Xbox built a working Series X inside a giant alligator — here's the catch for Australians

Xbox Series X-BITE is a one-off playable alligator sculpture with a bite-marked controller. The giveaway is real, but not open to Australians.

Xbox has made an actual working Series X inside a giant alligator sculpture. The announcement landed on 3 November 2026 as part of an Xbox promotion inspired by Florida, and the name is appropriately absurd: Xbox Series X-BITE. There's a console in the alligator's body, a controller between its teeth and an Xbox eye staring straight at you.

What is the X-BITE?

Xbox says the custom alligator is more than five feet long, measured from snout to tail. A functioning Xbox Series X sits inside, visible through an illuminated Xbox Nexus on its body. A customised Xbox Wireless Controller has decorative bite marks and rests inside the open jaws; the alligator's eyes have Xbox-green irises and Nexus-inspired pupils.

It is not a new mass-market Series X, a new console generation or a product you can order from an Australian retailer. The publisher says only one exists.

Who actually built it?

Creature and animatronics specialists John Nolan Studio handled modelling, sculpting and fabrication. Xbox's official article credits the studio's effects work on The Witcher, Jurassic World Dominion and HBO's upcoming Harry Potter adaptation. That physical craft is the main attraction: the alligator isn't a computer-generated render.

Xbox confirms the installed Series X works, although it describes the creature fabrication as best for display only. It is not designed as a normal desk-sized case, and no real alligators were used or harmed.

Can you win it in Australia?

No, not under the eligibility stated in Xbox Wire's announcement. The publisher lists legal residents of the 50 US states and Washington, D.C., aged 18 or older. Australian residents aren't eligible under those published terms. Some social captions refer to Puerto Rico as well; the full legal rules govern the promotion where shortened posts differ.

Giveaway dates, converted to AEST

Official US times

Begins 3 November at 9 a.m. Pacific Time; ends 10 November at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.

Queensland times

From 4 November, 3 a.m. AEST to 11 November, 5:59 p.m. AEST. California is on Pacific Standard Time during these dates.

Xbox lists X, Instagram and TikTok entry methods for eligible participants. Its instructions involve following the official account, reposting the designated promotion, adding #XbiteSweepstakes manually and keeping the account public. A potential winner must respond within 48 hours. No purchase is necessary, and the full legal rules control all details. After the closing date these are historical instructions, not a live invitation.

A wild display piece, not a hardware roadmap

There's no announced retail model, no Australian pre-order and no reason to expect Xbox's next hardware generation to look like a reptile. This is a one-of-one stunt with genuinely detailed construction. The result is better enjoyed through the official photos if you're outside the eligible region — unless you had an alligator-sized gap in the entertainment unit.

Xbox/Microsoft media credited throughout. Owner-captured screenshots were supplied in the project conversation but are not included in this initial GitHub release; no new game footage has been invented.
