MW4 DMZ free trial: Australian dates, X01 access and how to start

Not sure whether Modern Warfare 4's DMZ is for you? You can try the extraction mode without buying the full game during its limited-time free trial. Activision says the trial includes full DMZ access, including Hajin, X01, new DMZ Orders and Threat Assessments. It is a good opportunity to find out whether the mode's loot-and-extract structure suits you before paying for the game.

Quick answer: when does the trial end?

The official Steam announcement gives the window as 6 November at 12 pm Pacific to 11 November at 10 am Pacific. In Queensland (AEST, no daylight saving), that is Saturday 7 November at 6 am to Thursday 12 November at 4 am. Sydney and Melbourne are on AEDT, one hour ahead. Platform stores may display the original US calendar dates, so use the local clock rather than assuming the trial ends at midnight.

What's included?

The trial provides access to DMZ, the extraction mode in Modern Warfare 4. Go in alone or with a squad, gather equipment, pursue objectives and get to an extraction point. The free period explicitly includes Hajin, the X01 area, DMZ Orders and Threat Assessments. This is a trial of the mode; it is not an announcement that the entire paid game is permanently free.

How to start

1. Open the free-trial listing on your platform and check the requirements before installing: Xbox / Microsoft Store, PlayStation Store (US listing) or Call of Duty on Steam. Check your own regional store for availability.
2. Allow time for the download and any account setup. Activision says a phone number may be required for the account; Xbox Australia lists Xbox One, Series X|S and PC and says Game Pass Essential or a fee may be required. Check the platform listing before installing.

4. When you're ready, open GameOnCue's Hajin tactical map for documented regions, keys and route planning. Markers are field references, not live player tracking or guarantees of loot.

New to extraction games?

Think of each deployment as a high-stakes trip: you enter, decide what to risk, grab what you can and try to leave alive. Missions and discoveries give you something to work toward, but knowing when to extract can matter more than chasing one more fight.

What is not confirmed here?

We have not independently tested every platform's installation flow, queue status or whether individual rewards carry over to a later purchase. Check the game's current in-app notices before making decisions based on progression or reward eligibility.
