Destiny 2 unvaulting: the campaigns Bungie is targeting, and what is still uncertain
The first pass, stretch goals and Destiny Legacy are different commitments. Bungie has not supplied an exact unvaulting release date.

Bungie’s October community update is best read as a restoration plan with different levels of certainty. It is not an announcement that every removed Destiny activity is returning at once.
What is in the first pass?
Bungie targets Red War, Forsaken, Curse of Osiris and Warmind campaigns, their strikes, raids and raid lairs, plus Menagerie with reprised rewards. This pass is intended for all players.
| Status | Content |
|---|---|
| First-pass target | The four campaigns, associated activities and Menagerie above. |
| Investigating; not guaranteed | Free-roam destinations, later seasonal activities, raid weapon updates and PvP maps. |
| No current path | A revised New Light experience, seasonal story missions, Kell’s Grave and seasonal hubs. |
When will unvaulting happen?
There is no exact public launch date. Bungie describes pre-production through roughly January/February, followed by an estimated year of full production. Those are estimates about work, not a dated release promise.
It would be misleading to turn that arithmetic into a countdown. Porting older content and meeting a quality target are separate from publishing a release date. Returning players should watch for completed milestones rather than booking time off around an inferred month.
Legacy is a separate question
Destiny 2 Celebration, Destiny Legacy and a redacted future project are distinct intentions. February 2027 is the next planned major communication. Legacy is not a confirmed Destiny 1 remaster, PC port or release specification.
The distinction matters for preservation: restoring an activity does not automatically restore its original surrounding destinations, progression or historical context. The first useful question is which experience becomes accessible, followed by how it will be presented.
What to watch next
Bungie also ties its future to Marathon’s sustainability. That explains studio context; it does not create a release date for Destiny.
Our rumour-reading checklist applies here: keep the announcement, the estimate and the interpretation separate. We will update this same article when Bungie supplies firmer scope or dates, rather than splitting one announcement into several near-identical stories.
