Pokémon's 30th Celebration: Pikachu cards, a new rarity and Australian promos
What's in the September anniversary TCG set, which promotions have dates and what collectors should verify.
Pokémon's 30th Celebration trading card expansion arrived on 16 September 2026, with an all-foil set, a new Futuristic rare treatment and a Pikachu rare card in every listed booster pack.
What's different this time?
The Pokémon Company says the expansion includes 30 returning classic cards and illustrations depicting Pokémon in different moments of the day and night. The Futuristic rare artwork comes from YOSHIROTTEN. There are 30 different Pikachu rare cards; one included in a booster does not mean you can choose which variant you pull.
The Australian retail tie-in
The official Australian press release also names an October 2 Mewtwo promotional-card campaign linked to qualifying TCG purchases at participating EB Games, JB Hi-Fi, Big W, Toymate and Mr Toys stores, while supplies last. Check the current qualifying conditions before travelling—supplies and promotion periods can end.
Buy the product you actually want
Elite Trainer Boxes, posters, sticker collections and ex boxes contain different numbers of packs and different extras. Opening for fun and collecting a complete set are different budgets. Keep an eye on sold singles and reprints rather than assuming the first asking price is the market.
