The difference between a profitable DMZ run and a wasted key is the exit plan, not just the loot room. This guide turns the developer's map threat ratings and community-verified key approaches into three planning templates. They are editorial strategies, not claims of guaranteed player spawns, safe exfils, exact door coordinates or tested cash per minute.

Start here: the interactive Hājīn map

Our interactive terrain map has major POIs, location filters, fortresses, zoom, personal pins and a 35-key finder. The key finder supports searching for a room, map grid, possible loot and how to earn the key. Every map jump centres a major POI; follow the accompanying floor/landmark instructions for the actual door.

Plan A — solo starter: low threat and short objectives

  1. Choose a Low-threat outside zone like Songdo Wharf or the edges of Deadtown according to your actual insertion position. Do not travel across half the map just to force a single recommendation.
  2. Pick one Side Op or Dynamic Op appropriate for your kit, and use nearby buildings to build a modest cash buffer. The 29 October patch increased payouts but published no exact values.
  3. If you hold a Gun Store Weapons Locker key, a gun-store detour at Songdo Wharf can be preferable to The Grid's high-threat armories. Confirm its exact grid and door before committing.
  4. Extract once a useful objective is complete rather than adding a second high-threat mission to a damaged run.

Plan B — regear after losing a loadout

  1. Check the FOB, Overflow Stash and purchased kit options before deployment; the game can block deployment with unresolved Overflow Stash contents.
  2. Choose a route through accessible supplies or mission rewards, not a rare bunker card.
  3. A Police Station Key from the level 19 Recon Kit can open a restricted police armory. Different stations have different layouts, so check the actual station before spending the key.
  4. Retreat early from unexpected PvP: one recoverable item safely extracted is better than losing your last kit chasing an unknown container.

Plan C — prepared squad: The Grid, Citadel, reactor or air base

Extreme/critical POIs overlap loot, high-threat AI and contested routes. Distribute medical support, protection and route-reading responsibilities before entering. For Roze's Highrise Armory, plan for Netshin floor 14 and vertical threats. For the reactor DRC locker, radiation and underwater access matter as much as the key. At the air base, the multi-use access card, single-use armory access and six-digit in-match code are separate access stages.

When are bosses worth the risk?

Lieutenants may drop their own named loot-room keys, but community guides don't establish guaranteed drop rates or universally reliable spawn positions. Carry supplies appropriate to the area's threat tier and avoid assuming a boss kill automatically supplies a Legendary key. Look up the Lieutenant's room before attempting a detour.

What changed in the latest patch?

On 29 October Infinity Ward increased DMZ cash from Dynamic Ops, Side Ops and replayed Story Missions, and addressed Scavenger and exfil helicopter collision issues. On 28 October it added a restriction to the Possum trait near the team that killed you or before four minutes pass; on 25 October Drill Charge damage against Colossus enemies was reduced. The fixed bugs do not turn exfils into safe zones or make high-threat routes harmless.

Five squad communication calls that actually help

  1. Objective: which key and named room are we using?
  2. Access: who carries the key, what extra card/code is needed, and do we have spare keys?
  3. Threat: how many hostile angles, AI types and vertical entrances have we identified?
  4. Fallback: which nearest viable extraction route are we considering, subject to actual match conditions?
  5. Abort: what is the threshold for leaving—lost armour, inadequate time, ammo or teammate down?

Use the dated DMZ change log, and keep Multiplayer-only buffs and nerfs out of DMZ weapon recommendations until a DMZ-specific tuning sheet exists.
