World of Horror’s huge free 1.2 update lands on PC — consoles follow in 2027
As Below So Above adds new Old Gods, scenarios, characters and Workshop support to the retro horror RPG; the publisher says consoles will follow later.

World of Horror's free version 1.2 update, As Below So Above, launched on PC on 30 October 2026. The developer's Steam announcement lists Steam, GOG and itch.io as supported PC storefronts, with console versions planned for 2027 rather than included in today's release. This is a substantial update for the unsettling, monochrome cosmic-horror RPG.
What has actually been added?
Publisher Ysbryd Games describes the update as making the game roughly 20% bigger. That figure is the publisher's content claim, not a measured framerate, price reduction or review score. New events, enemies, mysteries, items, spells, curses, injuries and balance changes all feature in the 1.2 notes.
Two fresh Old God scenarios bring different pressures to Shiokawa. IKT-YOSIS, the First Nightmare reshapes conditions above its mountain chamber, including unnerving weather. The War for Shiokawa involves multiple cults and Eldritch threats active together. The new situations broaden the permutations in a run rather than turning the game into a traditional story-driven sequel.
Three new characters and a Scenario Mode
Three playable characters join the roster, including Kiriko, a tarotist, and Satoshi, a mountain explorer. The developer also describes an expanded Scenario Mode with shorter, self-contained stories set before the main campaign; its Forest of Fear / Tapes of Tragedy storyline introduces film-club member Makoto.
Modding changes matter too
Steam Workshop support is expanding so players can create enemies, events and mysteries, with additional tools to customise user-made scenarios and interfaces. The announcement specifically references Steam Workshop; it does not promise identical workshop integration on every PC storefront or future console version.
Who gets it and when?
| Platform | Availability |
|---|---|
| Windows / macOS via participating PC storefronts | Available as a free update from 30 October 2026 |
| Console editions | Planned for 2027; no precise date announced |
The update is a particularly good reason to revisit World of Horror during Halloween week, especially if you already own it. New players can review the developer's complete version 1.2 notes and screenshots before deciding; GameOnCue has not independently playtested this patch or verified a console launch date.
