World of Warcraft: Forever launches 5 November in Australia — time, access and what's new

Blizzard's 4 November US launch translates to Thursday morning in Queensland. Here's the real AEST start time, subscription access, new zones and edition traps to avoid.

Australian players should circle Thursday morning, not Wednesday night. Blizzard says World of Warcraft: Forever launches worldwide at 3 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on Wednesday 4 November 2026. That converts to 9:00 a.m. AEST on Thursday 5 November in Queensland. The developer's US calendar date and our Australian date refer to the same global launch, not two separate releases.

Forever is a new, persistent third branch of World of Warcraft alongside Modern and Classic. It reworks the original level 1–60 Azeroth with new regions, character options, dungeons, quests and progression, rather than simply re-opening a time-limited vanilla server.

Launch facts for Australian readers

What is actually different from Classic?

Blizzard is developing what it calls a reimagined Year 1: new stories fit within the original world's historical period, while formerly unexplored corners become playable. Developer notes highlight Mount Hyjal, Shen'dralas, the Riverglades and Zephras Isle. Nine new dungeons include the Hall of Thanes and Ruins of Lordaeron; Blizzard also outlines more future adventures after launch. The studio says graphical touches such as improved rivers, mist and moonlight are intended to preserve the game's older artistic identity.

The new Skyborne playable race can align with either faction at character creation. Its starting experience takes place on Zephras Isle, while other race/class combinations expand beyond original 2004 options. Important: Blizzard states access to Skyborne requires the Heroic Pack or higher digital upgrade; a normal subscription should not be advertised as unlocking every cosmetic, upgrade benefit and race.

Subscription versus upgrade packs

There are multiple purchase options, but the base Forever experience is accessible through existing subscription or game-time access. Optional Skyborne Heroic, Skyborne Epic and Warcraft Forever Collection products provide differing bonuses. Epic includes 30 days of game time; the Collection additionally bundles Warcraft III material. Check the exact regional price and package contents on Battle.net before buying. GameOnCue has not independently checked live Australian checkout prices, so none are invented here.

What should returning players do?

  1. Verify the active World of Warcraft subscription or remaining Game Time in your Battle.net account.
  2. Check Blizzard's official Forever page for server and account notices; launch queues and maintenance are dynamic.
  3. Choose whether you want a standard character or a paid Skyborne upgrade before buying an edition.
  4. Coordinate faction and server choices with friends; don't assume every character transfer or cross-version feature from Modern WoW works identically in Forever.
  5. When 9 a.m. AEST arrives, confirm the actual availability in Battle.net rather than treating a pre-launch countdown as server-health evidence.

Beyond day one

Blizzard's current roadmap says new raids unlock on 9 December and further dungeons, quests, PvP changes, Hardcore and additional updates follow. These are announced plans rather than proof that every feature is accessible during the first login. The pitch is long-term development of a permanent world, not a seven-day seasonal novelty.
