Warframe Portau cards and playmat: what's in the box, USD prices and Australian preorder traps
Portau has a physical card box and large playmat on preorder, separate from the free in-game card game coming with Warframe: Tau. Check the contents, shipping window and real total before paying.

Warframe is getting an in-world card game called Portau — and Digital Extremes is also making real cards you can put on a table. That second part is a separate physical merchandise preorder, not an in-game DLC requirement. The official store lists two card decks, a collector's box, bag charm and optional playmat, with an expected dispatch window well after Tau launches in December.
What can you actually preorder?
| Product | Contents and size | Store price |
|---|---|---|
| Portau Card Box Set | Two standard 2.5 × 3.5-inch decks with Warframe-inspired suits, collector box and bag charm | US$44.99 |
| Portau Playmat | 950 × 500 mm polyester/natural-rubber mat, also usable as a desk mat | US$49.99 |
| Both products in one order | Store advertises US$10 savings when purchasing card box and mat together | Displayed checkout total varies; do not assume an Australian-dollar price |
These are published US store listing prices, not amounts we have verified in Australian dollars. The collector set and the mat are separate items: seeing a full collection photo does not mean the lower-priced card box includes the desk mat. The publisher also warns that the pictured bag charm is a product mock-up; the final item may differ.
Shipping matters more than the marketing countdown
Both official listings say expected shipping in mid-January 2027, so don't order them as a December holiday gift on the assumption they will arrive then. The Warframe Store also says adding other items to the same order can delay shipment of those items until the preorder is ready. Order non-preorder items separately if shipping speed matters.
Australian buyer checklist
- Check the correct product: physical Portau merchandise is different from the free in-game card game announced for Warframe: Tau.
- Open the actual international checkout: confirm that the store ships to your Australian address before placing an order; regional shipping and tax policies can change.
- Compare the final total: the displayed prices are USD. Card fees, exchange rate, shipping and any applicable duties or taxes can increase the Australian cost.
- Read the combined-purchase offer: the advertised US$10 saving applies to buying both products as the store describes, not automatically to a single product.
- Save the January shipping information: keep your checkout confirmation and verify product, refund and fulfilment policies before paying.
Can you play Portau without buying the physical decks?
Yes: the developer describes Portau as an activity within the free Tau expansion. Its preview introduced themed suits such as Blooms, Cores, Moons and Suns. The physical decks let fans bring the concept off-screen. Digital Extremes' October tournament used pre-release rules and explicitly warned that those rules could change before the playable version ships, so we are not publishing a fake final rulebook or invented best-card strategy.
If you are here for Warframe rather than merchandise, start with our Tau expansion guide and Taubound event walkthrough. Neither requires buying the physical Portau set.
